Ayam Percik

Roasted chicken with a coating of creamy and spiced coconut milk sauce.

Ingredients

Marinate Ingredients:

  • 350 Grams of Chicken
  • 3 Pieces of Garlic
  • 1 Inch of Ginger, Shredded
  • 2 Tablespoons of Turmeric Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon of Sugar and Salt

 

Cooking Ingredients

  • 1 Cup of Coconut Milk
  • 1 Tablespoon of Tamarind
  • 3 Tablespoons of Chili Sauce
  • 3 Tablespoons of Tomato Sauce
  • 3 Tablespoons of Gula Melaka
  • 3 Tablespoons of Beras Sangai
  • A pinch of Salt and Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon of Cooking Oil

 

Blended Ingredients:

  • 3 Cloves of Garlic
  • 1 Piece of Onion
  • 1 Stalk of Lemongrass
  • 1 Cup of Dried Chili

Steps

For Marinade and Cooking the Chicken

  1. To marinate the chicken, take a bowl, add in the chicken, garlic, ginger, turmeric powder, sugar and salt. Mix it all together then set aside for 30 minutes.
  2. Unlock and open the multicooker lid by turning the handle to the unlock position. Pour all the marinated ingredients into the cooker then close and lock the lid by turning the handle to the lock position.
  3. Press the [MENU SELECTION] button to select the [MULTICOOK] function. Set the cooking time for 15 minutes and temperature 120 degrees then press [COOK].
  4. Once the chicken cooked, take out the chicken from the cooker by putting it in a separate bowl but do not throw the chicken soup, instead pour the soup it in a separate bowl as well.

Prepare the blended ingredients to coat the chicken

  1. With the Max Blender, open the blender container lid by turning and take off the lid. Set the triple-blade by placing it onto the blender coupler.
  2. Pour garlic, onion, lemongrass and blended dried chilli into the container. Close the lid and lock it by turning it to the lock position.
  3. Place the container on to the Max Blender and turn the container to the lock position until it clicks. Turn the [START SWITCH] to level 1 and blend until the mixture blended.
  4. Take off the container from the Max Blender by turning it to the unlock position. Open the blender container lid by turning and take off the lid.
  5. With the multicooker, open the lid by turning the handle to the unlock position. With the lid still open, turn the handle to the lock position. Pour cooking oil into the cooker.
  6. Pre-heat the cooker by pressing the [MENU SELECTION] button to select the [OVEN] function. Set the cooking time for 15 minutes and heating level 3 then press [COOK]
  7. Once the cooker heated, pour the blended ingredients into the cooker until its fragrant. Slowly add one by one the coconut milk, tamarind, chilli sauce. Add the chicken soup into the pot. Stir-fry the ingredients until it becomes a thick sauce.
  8. Once it’s cooked, pour all the cooked ingredients into a separate bowl.

Coat and Fry the chicken

  1. Unlock and open the multicooker lid by turning the handle to the unlock position. With the lid still open, turn the handle to the lock position.
  2. Press the [MENU SELECTION] button and select the [OVEN] function. Set the cooking time for 30 minutes and heating level 3 then press [COOK]
  3. Take the cooked chicken and coat it well with the sauce. Fry it and flip it until there’s a signature browning of the sauce.
  4. Repeat the previous step until the chicken is coated and fried.
