Asam Pedas Melaka Style

Let’s take an adventure to one of the most famous dish in Malaysia, the mouth-watering Melaka Asam Pedas

Ingredients

Blended Ingredients:

  • 2 Pieces of Shallots
  • 2 Pieces of Garlic
  • 1 Piece of Onion
  • 1/5 Inch of Fresh Turmeric
  • 1 Inch of Ginger
  • An Inch of Prawn Paste (Belacan)
  • 1 Cup of Dried Chillies

 

Cooking Ingredients:

  • A Handful of Bunga Kantan (Ginger Torch Flower)
  • A Handful of Daun Kesum (Vietnamese Mint Leaves)
  • A Handful of Bay Leaves
  • A Stalk of Lemongrass
  • 2 Pieces of Big Tomatoes, Diced
  • 5 Pieces of Lady Finger
  • Water
  • 4 Tablespoons of Cooking Oil
  • 2 Tablespoons of Tamarind Juice
  • 1 Teaspoon Halba
  • 300 Grams of Fish

Steps

  1. Heat up the cooker with the lid still open, selecting [MULTICOOK] function by navigating using the [MENU SELECTION] button then set the cooking time to 20 minutes and turn the handle to a lock position and press [COOK].
  2. Once the pot is heated about 2 – 3 minutes, add halba and lemongrass then stir-fry the blended ingredients until thick and fragrant.
  3. Slowly add the ginger torch flower, Vietnamese mint leaves and bay leaves also tamarind juice into the pot then add the fish.
  4. Finally, add the ladyfinger and tomatoes.
  5. Since the cooking time is done, turn the handle to an unlock position then close the lid. Lock the handle again to secure and set the cooking time for 20 minutes to cook ladyfinger and tomatoes and press [COOK]
  6. Served!
